STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE STACKERS INGREDEINTS LIST
- 1 can of Pillsbury Grands biscuits ( 8 biscuits)
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon water
- white table sugar for sprinkling
- 20 large strawberries, 2 slices per strawberry (use the leftovers for a salad)
- 1 (8 ounce) tub cool whip, defrosted
- 20 skewers, cut to size
- 1½ inch biscuit cutter
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE APPETIZERS INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350°.On a lightly floured surface, roll a biscuit into a 5-inch circle.
- Cut 7 (1½ inch) circles and place on a cookie sheet sprayed with non stick cooking spray.
- Bring leftover dough together, roll to the same thickness as the previous rounds.
- Cut leftover dough to make for a total of rounds to 60.
- Whisk together the egg white and water. Brush on each biscuit and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking prepare the strawberries.
- Cut two ½ inch slices from each strawberry and use the leftovers for a salad.
- Keep the two slices stacked on themselves so you can use the same strawberry for one skewer. This way they fit together better.
- Once the biscuits are baked, transfer to a cooling rack and let them cool completely before constructing the skewers.
- Then start layering; biscuit, strawberry, cool whip, do this twice ending with a third biscuit on top.
TIPS FOR CREATING AN EASY PARTY APPETIZER OR PARTY DESSERT
HOW TO SKEWER THE BISCUITS: Place the bottom biscuit on a flat surface and then pierce with a skewer. this will help the shortcake stand straight.
HOW TO APPLY THE WHIPPED CREAM: For a cleaner and easier application try spooning the whipped cream into a piping bag fitted with a round tip or cut the end.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE KABOBS RECIPE ALTERNATIVE CHOICES
- POUND CAKE— (like Sara Lee)—Cake cubes or squares the same size as the strawberries.
- STORE BOUGHT READY MADE SUGAR COOKE DOUGH—Slice dough into ¼inch slices, use a 1½ inch round cutter and bake.
- STRAWBERRY CAKE MIX COOKIE←RECIPE LINK—Adjust to 1 tablespoon of dough.
- WHITE CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE—Once the kebabs are put together, add a drizzle of white chocolate over the entire kebab.
- MARSHMALLOWS—Instead of the shortcake or biscuits and whip cream, add large marshmallows (best if a dark chocolate drizzle is added).
- DARK CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE—Once the kebabs are put together, add a drizzle of dark chocolate over the entire kebab OR dip some of the strawberries in the chocolate.
- GRILLED—This will have to be done without the whip cream. Soak bamboo skewers for a few minutes before adding the strawberries and biscuit rounds (using shortcake squares might work best for this technique, grill a few minutes or until grill marks appear.
- BROWNIE BITES—Instead of the shortcake squares, use brownie squares. Everyone love strawberries and chocolate!
- NILLA WAFERS—Instead of the biscuits use store bought cookies like vanilla wafers.
- CHOCOLATE WHIPPED CREAM—Spoon dry chocolate pudding mix into a tub of store bought whipped topping (Cool Whip), stir until combined. TIP: If you want your whipped cream to stay the consistency of whipped cream, add 1 tablespoon at a time to the whipped cream and stir until combined. If you add the whole box of pudding mix you will end up with a mousse texture and consistency. For a stronger chocolate flavor, start with a dark chocolate pudding mix.
- ANGEL FOOD CAKE—Cut into cubes or squares the same size as the strawberries
- FRESH BLUEBERRIES—Add fresh blueberries with the strawberries for the perfect red, white, and blue dessert.

These were a hit at a recent gathering. Made a few hours in advance which softened the biscuits a bit and made them actually taste more like shortbread. Was worried about sogginess – but no problem with that. The top of a gallon milk jug was perfect “cutter” for biscuits. I used original Grands btw. Only thing I changed is put 2 biscuits on each skewer and topped with decorative strawberry piece. 3 biscuits were starting to make it top heavy and they had the tendancy to toppling over. I live food on skewers!

Do you think you could use a squirt of ready whip with these instead of cool Whip? I just don’t like cool whip
Hi Jill, The only way you can use a whip cream from a can is if you serve it right away. Usually the whip cream looses its fluff fast and will become runny. The cool whip keeps it’s shape. If you don’t want to use cool whip or can’t find it you can also use freshly made whip cream.
