Semi Homemade Pancake Dippers Recipe
BACON PANCAKE DIPPERS INGREDIENTS-SEMI HOMEMADE VERSION-This version only makes 12 pancake dippers. For a big batch, double the recipe or they will all be eaten every single time. (full printable recipe below on recipe card)
- 1 recipe of the Bisquick pancake mix including the ingredients to make the pancake batter
- 12 slices center cut bacon strips or your favorite bacon
- lite or your favorite maple syrup
BACON PANCAKE DIPPERS INSTRUCTIONS-SEMI HOMEMADE VERSION
- Cook bacon and set aside.
- Mix batter according to the package directions.
- Preheat oven to the lowest temperature or on warm.
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Pour into a squeeze bottle with a big enough hole for the batter to pour from. I used a cheap picnic ketchup bottle. The tall skinny ones that also come in yellow for mustard. You can find them during the summer at the Dollar Tree. Cut the tip off to make the opening bigger.
- Heat griddle ( I heat mine to 300°).
- Squeeze batter in a long oval shape a little longer and wider then the bacon and place cooked bacon strips in the center.
- Lightly press bacon into the batter.
- Squeeze more batter over the bacon in a zig zag pattern.
- This is to protect the bacon from the griddle and keep the bacon in place when the dipper is turned over.
- Cook until the batter starts to bubble then turn over and cook a few minute longer or until golden brown.
- Place cooked pancakes on prepared pan and keep warm in the preheated oven.
- Serve with syrup.

Oh, my gosh, like pigs-in-blankets, only with bacon! You are brilliant and I’m certainly going to be making these for breakfast. My boys will LOVE you for it!
Thanks!
2 of my favorite food groups … pancakes and bacon! What a fabulous idea!
These are just too fun!
Love this….my daughter only dips her pancakes…great idea! Have to say I wish I had thought of this.
OH my goodness, I can’t wait to try these!!
I can not wait to try this. Thank you so much for sharing. I am pinning.
I was impressed before I knew there was bacon involved!!! Pure genius 🙂
This is such a great idea and I can’t wait to make them for the kids! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Genius! I’m going to have to try this one weekend! I just shared your post on Google+
Love this idea! And yes, bacon dipped in syrup is the best part! Now, I need to run out and get one of those squeeze ketchup bottles! Definitely pinning this! …hmm..maybe I can get hubs to make these for me for Mother’s Day! Thanks!
no need to go out and buy a squeeze bottle… just use an empty syrup bottle or even an empty coffee creamer container 🙂
i used an empty ketchup squeeze bottle!
That’s what I used too Earline. 🙂
Clever, clever, clever!
I’m doing this when we camp this year, so fun, I’m going to add blueberries also!
And this, ladies & gentlemen, is evidence that God exists! Manna in your own kitchen.
I just found this on Pinterest. Simply amazing. Yum!!!
I made these ones for dinner and my boys loved them. I would not change anything about them because they are just perfect. When I called my boys over for dinner they asked for the bacon because they weren’t seeing it on their plates and they had smelled it while it cooked. I said to to them, “Have a pancake first”. They took a bite and turned to look at me with a huge smile on their face. Those are the moments I will forever treasure.
This is GENIUS! I can’t wait to try these – I’m always up for bacon!
This is awesome!!! I will try to do this on the weekend 🙂
This is truly the best idea! Can’t wait to try.
I’m making these for a bridal Getting Ready Party…much like a brunch buffet of finger foods for the girls to munch on while getting hair & make-up done.
I have one question…what are your thoughts on making these yummy treats in advance? I’m stretched thin on time…and considering making these treats on Wed evening…freezing them…and tossing them in the oven on Sat morning. Do you think the bacon will lose its crunch this way?
I would appreciate anyone’s feedback on this. 🙂
And thanks for sharing this perfectly awesome treat!!!
Hi Jamie,
Once you bake the bacon in the pancake batter it really isn’t all that crispy. I think your idea will work fine. Your guests are going to love these! Good luck! Thanks for visiting Lady Behind The Curtain. 🙂
Made them this morning and they fun to do and great. My husband loved them especially with real maple syrup. I don’t like maple syrup so put garlic and butter on them. Have two left for later.
Looks so yummy – can’t wait to try it!
I am going to make these for the breakfast program I run at our local school. The children would love them.
Hi Miss B,
Yep, my granddaughter thought they were the best things I had ever created next to all the cupcakes I make which she thinks are ALWAYS just for her. HA! 🙂
Gotta try it!
BEST breakfast idea EVER!!
Holy Cow! That looks amazing! My boys are going to love me when I make this. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Can you make this recipe using almond flour instead of Bisquick mix?
Hi Tiffany,
Sure, as long as you put in the other ingredients along with it that make a pancake mix. 🙂
Can you freeze them and serve them late?
Hi Allison,
I haven’t tried to freeze them. The only issue I would have is if all the bacon fat hadn’t been rendered, heating them up might cause the bacon fat to make the pancakes soggy. My suggestion would be to do a trial run.
Did u try freezing them? I’m in the middle of a breakfast freezing frenzy for back to school and my son would love these!!
Hi Mitzi, I’ve never frozen them but I don’t see why they wouldn’t freeze.
Perfect pancakes are very easy to make with this recipe
http://secretpancakes.blogspot.com/
This is SO CREATIVE!! Pinned! (and I don’t even eat bacon – ha!)
That looks yummy thanks for the photos
OMG! This is brilliant! You just got me salivating! and worse still I don’t think I can make these pancakes as well as you did.
We’re trying these for breakfast. Thanks for sharing recipe.
Loved it
I am so making this for my grandbabies EVERTIME they sleep over…. THEY LOVE PANCAKES&BACON!
Yay! You’re a GREAT Grandma! 🙂
I always dip my bacon in syryp. Yum! Making these babies in the morning. Thanks for sharing.
LOVE this idea, dont know if its as im from england but would never have thought of putting the two together i go the gym alot so i made mine with protein pancake mix and added some bacon to it maybe thinking of trying this with maybe turkey next ? thanks for sharing!
Can’t wait to try these thanks for sharing
I made these this morning, and the kids LOVED them!! We added chocolate chips to a couple of them. PURE BLISS!! I’m looking forward to converting this recipe to a paleo version. It should be pretty easy.
Yay! So glad the kids liked them Bobbi! 🙂
My grandsons loved them all 4 of them thanks for sharing. One of my grandsons wants me to make some with sausage just wondering if that would work also either the links or the patties and just make them round with a sausage patty inside of it.:)
Sounds good Carla. I think it would be great and I’m so glad you scored some Grandma points with the grand kids. I try to score grandma points whenever I can. HA! 🙂
I’m thinking you could easily crumble the cooked sausage patties and add to the dippable pancake sticks.
I think that’s a great idea Brenda!
Can’t wait to try these I was looking something I can make for my mom to take with her early when she leaves in the morning to eat later when she gets her coffee.+
Perfect! 🙂
This sound so good,I can’t wait to try it!,thankyou for sharing.
These wold be perfect for my husband to take to the field with him. I wonder how long they would keep.
Hi Kimberly, If you stored them in the refrigerator, I would think they would be good all week.
Could I make these and freeze for a camping trip. Reheat and serve?
Hi Brandy, I think that’s a great idea. I don’t see why not.
Hi! Love this idea, have you ever made the bacon ahead of time (like a day or two before) then make them? These would be a good idea for camping , but I like to try and make everything at home that I can (plus bacon can get so messy sometimes when camping). I like the sausage link idea too.
Hi Corinne, I’ve never tried cooking my bacon in advance but I think it’s a great idea and will work.
I see the previous comments about possibly freezing these. Has anyone tried this yet? I am looking for quick heat up breakfasts to make for my son to take to college with him. He would absolutely love these considering bacon is his favorite food!
Hi Suzanne, I haven’t tried it…maybe there’s someone out there who has. 🙂
My 15 year old son now wants to marry you! Making these tomorrow for breakfast! how did I not think of this???
Hahaha……Bill. You’ll make his day!
Has anyone ever made these the night before and warmed them up?
I did Allison. They warm up great in the microwave. 🙂
Yes, they will love them Andrew. 🙂
Me and my daughter are always cooking so now we are about to make some.
These are fun to make with kids. 🙂
This looks great I’m making these tomorrow but is it best to bake the bacon or just cook it on the griddle first
Hi Dom, That is totally up to you. 🙂
THIS – IS – GENIUS !!!
Thank you!
Thanks Zaina. 🙂
Amazing!
Easy recipe, and so versatile!
Lots of fun! 🙂
Have you ever made the pancake dippers the day before serving?
Hi Kathy, Yes you can make the dippers the day before. Heat them back up in the oven.
I’m seriously thinking about making these for my son tonight. It won’t be hard at all to convince him to have breakfast for dinner! And I may even make a few to freeze and see how well they do. I would love to have them already ready and just pop them in the microwave. I may also put syrup in the batter. That would make it a very good grab and go breakfast for when we are running late!
All of your ideas sounds amazing Lauren!
I love bacon and pancakes. will be making this for sure
Me too Rachel! When I ate pancakes and bacon I would always dip my bacon in the syrup. That’s why I decided to combine the two.
You could make some to freeze and then heat them up for breakfast for several days, quick and easy.
Yes, you can Kelli! 🙂
I have to say that you made my day with this pancakes, they look amazing and with the bacon hidden inside so yummy. Thank you for sharing this recipe with us.
You’re Welcome Boyan, They are not only tasty but also fun with the hidden bacon surprise.
Could you make these and freeze them?
Hi Linda, I haven’t frozen them but I don’t see why not. I would thaw them in a toaster like waffles.
These are delicious! I have to make at least a double batch my 3 boys gobbled them up so fasta
That’s great news Lynn. I’m so glad they like them!
These are such a great idea, I would put a larger piece of bacon in them though.
They are yummy Yvonne. My bacon is small because I used center cut bacon to reduce some of the fat. Larger size bacon will work too! 🙂
I made these tonight for my 2- year old twin girls and they loved them! One of them even ate them without syrup! Thanks for this genius idea!
WooHoo! That’s awesome Melissa! ♥
cool, I already have the habit of eating sweet pancakes in the morning, but I never tried to eat with bacon, it should be good, yes, I’ll do it tomorrow to try it .. thanks for your content
You’re Welcome Gina! Enjoy!
Just tried these out this morning after searching for a recipe for one. These were amazing. So fluffy and tasty. So glad i’ve come across these. I will now be using this from now on!
Cool! Thanks Kevin!
Really wanting to make these with my son. He is learning some basic cooking things right now, and he loves it! I apologize if this question was already asked and I just overlooked it. We like our bacon pretty crispy. Does the bacon get crispy enough without overcooking the pancake?
Hi Jenny, You cook the bacon first.
Hi Sheryl! Thanks for this recipe and thanks for diligently responding to all the comments! I see that you have informed people that they can make a big batch the night before and then heat them up in the oven the next day. I need to do that for my daughter’s birthday brunch this weekend but have never tried this before… what temperature would you set your oven to for reheating them?
Hi Amanda, No I haven’t tried heating them in the oven. I usually pop them in the toaster. I think a good temperature would be 350°. You might also add a pan of water on the rack under the pan of pancakes. This will help with the moisture.
My kids loved making these with me as much as they were loved eating them. Even though they turned into giant oval strips I think they were a success!! Thank you!!
That’s wonderful Samantha!
Can you use any kind of pancake mix?
Sure Mandy….any mix will work.
Wow wow this is wonderful
Thank You Angel!
i just cooked and love it! thanks for sharing.
Thank You! So glad you liked the recipe.
I am making these for a group at work and was wondering can you make the bacon the day before to save time?
Hi Lendy, Sure…you can make the bacon in advance. The only downfall is I don’t know how hot the bacon will get while the pancakes cook.
