How to Create a Princess Birthday Party with Store Bought Products: Creating a fun princess party is easy when you follow my simple steps. From a plate banner, star wands and princess popcorn you can have an amazing little girls birthday party put together in no time with little effort.

Purchase some cute decorations along with a few homemade items and you’ve got a party fit for a princess!

Princess Party Plate Banner and Crepe Paper Backdrop

PLATE BANNER: Punch two holes on the top of each dessert size plate.  I used 3 colors or curling ribbon.  TIP: To make the threading of the ribbon easy, tape the end. Punch two holes on the top of each plate.  String all the plates together {I made two rows}. Tape or use a thumb tack to attach to the wall. CREPE PAPER BACKDROP: Tape or thumb tack streamers at the top of the backdrop (for me it was where the wall met the ceiling) Twist and attach the end of the steamer at the baseboard of the wall with tape or thumb tacks.

How to Make an Edible Fairy Wand

A princess party celebration would not be complete with out a wand filled with fairy dust. I inserted the lollipop stick into a floral vial that was filled with fairy dust {pink or blue sugar sprinkles}, wrapped the lollipop stick with glitter tape I found at Walmart and used the leftover curly ribbon from the plate banner.

Yield: Makes (about) 13 Celebration Fairy Wands
Prep Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 35 minutes

These buttery, chewy celebration fairy wands are delicious and the candy melts on top really do taste like frosting!  Your little princess is going to love these!

Ingredients

For the Celebration Fairy Wand Cookies:

  • 1 (16.5 ounce) sugar cookie roll
  • ¼ to ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sprinkles (optional), I used jimmies
  • 3-inch star shaped cookie cutter
  • 13 lollipop sticks

For the Candy Star Topper:

  • assorted colored candy melts to fit your color scheme
  • small piping bag or squeeze bottle

For the Decorations:

  • 13 flower vials
  • 4 - 2.25 bottles of colored sugar sprinkles for fairy dust
  • sparkle tape
  • curly ribbon

Instructions

For the Celebration Fairy Wand Cookies:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. In a large bowl, break up cookie dough.
  3. Stir or knead in the flour and sprinkles until well blended.
  4. On a lightly floured work surface; coat all sides of dough with flour.
  5. With a rolling pin, roll out dough ½ inch thick, adding additional flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  6. Flour the star shaped cookie cutter, cut out stars.
  7. Gently brush excess flour from starts; place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake 15 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.
  9. Cool completely before adding the candy topping.

For the Candy Star Topper:

  1. Pour candy melts in a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Heat on high 1 minute, stir until melted and creamy.
  3. If candy is not melted, continue heating at 70% in 30 second increments.

For the Decorations:

  1. Wrap the sparkle tape around the lollipop stick.
  2. Fill the vial with the sprinkles. (I used a funnel)
  3. Tie ribbon around the lollipop stick and curl.

How to Get Flower Vials

You can order them from Amazon but then you might be stuck with a lot more then you need. I went to the florist in my grocery store (Safeway) and was able to purchase the amount I needed. Try your local grocery store before you order on Amazon.

Cinderella Birthday Cake

Then I ordered this adorable Cinderella Birthday Cake from Walmart.  Although I was a bit disappointed that the colors were neon green and blue. {They didn’t provide a picture and who knew a princess cake would be THOSE colors}  My advice – ask what colors the cake is BEFORE ordering.
