Beef Gravy without the Drippings
Smoking beef? Don't worry... now you can make gravy WITHOUT drippings!
Ingredients
- 4 cups beef broth or stock
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Pour beef broth/stock into a medium saucepan and heat until warm. NOTE: You don't have to bring the broth/stock to a boil just until steamy and warm. In a large skillet melt the butter. Sprinkle the flour over the butter and whisk together. Continue cooking and whisking until the flour has become brown. Add warm broth/stock a ladle at a time to the flour mixture whisking as you go. TIP: Make the gravy thinner than you want because when the gravy cools it will thicken up. Or, if you're making the gravy ahead of time save some of the broth for when you reheat the gravy. Add salt and pepper.

Mashed potato recipes to go with your Beef Gravy without the Drippings. THE PERFECT MASHED POTATOES and BUTTER
The best no-drippings gravy I’ve made. Very tasty! However, I added an extra tablespoon of butter and added a teaspoon of gravy master because I sliced a medium onion to brown with the melted butter veggie adding the flour. Everything else was the same. My family really liked it over hamburgers.
Hi Debbie, I LOVE the idea of putting the gravy over burgers! Totally going to try that. Thanks♥

Hi James, I’m so glad you liked the recipe!
Dumb question as I think I know the answer, but can you freeze left over gravy?
Hi Lyn, You can freeze your gravy up to 3 months. When freezing any liquid, be sure to leave at least an inch of space at the top. Liquids will expand in the freezer, so you’ll want to give it a little extra space when filling your container. Transfer your gravy from the freezer to the refrigerator the night before serving to thaw.
