Copycat ~ Orange Cream Pops
Memories of making a fast dash into the house to get some money when you first heard the distant music coming from the ice cream truck. What was your favorite ice cream you would get from the ice cream truck? I don’t have an ice cream truck cruising my neighborhood but I did as a child and I LOVED 50/50 bars! That’s EXACTLY what these Copycat ~ Orange Cream Pops tastes like. When I eat these pops it brings back sweet memories. I hope it does the same for you or maybe help you create new ones.
Copycat ~ Orange Cream Pops
Bring back the sweet memories of the ice cream truck with these copycat 50/50 bars.
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups orange soda
- 1-1/2 cups vanilla ice cream
- popsicle sticks
- popsicle mold
Instructions
- Pour soda into popsicle molds a little over half full.
- Let soda sit out on the counter in the molds for 1 hour.
- This will prevent that eruption effect when you add ice cream to soda.
- Drop pieces of the vanilla ice cream into the popsicle molds and push down into the soda.
- Place popsicle sticks into the molds and down into the soda mixture.
- Put into the freezer. {Note} The popsicle sticks will rise. After the popsicles have been in the freezer for a half hour or long enough to start to set press the popsicle sticks back into place.
- Freeze 8 hours or until the popsicles are hard.
- Run warm water over the molds to release the pops.
Notes
This is a LBC original!
I love the orange cream frozen pops I get at the grocery store, but they can get expensive if you buy them as often as I do. (Shame on me). So, I really appreciate this easy recipe I can use to make them myself. I’m guessing I can use any flavor soda or ice cream, so after I make my fave orange cream bars, I’m going to experiment with different flavor combinations of ice cream and sodas. Once again, I really appreciate your generosity of sharing the knowledge you’ve acquired over the years — not just the Orange cream bars but the box cake add-ins as well as all your tips. Thank you for helping me and all the other people who have enjoyed your blog.
