How to Make DIY Soda Can Party Cups
I created this idea for a Western Themed Birthday Party. You may be thinking what does Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper have to do with a Western Themed Party. Well, in short that was the favorite drink of the Birthday Party person. I think Root Beer would also be a great choice for a soda cup.
HOW TO TRANSFORM AN EMPTY SODA CAN INTO A DRINKING CUP– full printable instructions below in the how to card
SUPPLIES AND TOOLS
- empty soda cans
- pliers or sand paper
- can opener
SODA POP CAN INSTRUCTIONS
- The first step and THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP to creating a fun drinking cup is removing the pull tab. If you don’t remove this first before you take off the top the pull tap will get in your way and then the top of the can will not come off clean
- Use a handheld can opener to remove the top of the can.
- I ran my finger around the edge to make sure the top came off clean.
- Some can tops will not come off clean. I threw those away. I only used the ones that came off clean or were very close to it. So be prepared to need more cans then you’ll actually use.
- If you feel a little something you can always take a pair of pliers and press that area down or use light sand paper to sand it down.
Can I use Other Cans to Make a Drinking Cup?
Sure! Any aluminum can will work.
- SODA CANS
- BEER CANS
- SPARKLING WATER CANS
DO NOT USE TIN CANS-It will probably make your drink taste metalic.
Will This Idea Also Work for Hot Beverages?
I don’t recommend adding a hot beverage to your cans unless you add a cozy. I have a fun tutorial on how to create your own cup cozy using a sock! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION→DIY SOCK COZIES
