Easter Basket Caramel Dipped Pretzels: The perfect Easter Treat, salty small pretzel sticks dipped in caramel and then creamy chocolate. For a special touch, scroll down to see how you can add these fun treats to a can with Easter labels↓
I used Snyders pretzel sticks. They’re a little larger then most small pretzel sticks (about 3-inches).
How to make a Super Easy Caramel Dip
Are you ready for this? HEAT A CAN OF DULCE DE LECHE (see below for details↓)
Spoon a can of Dulce de Leche into a microwave safe bowl, heat on high, 15 seconds, stir. Caramel should become more of a liquid and thinner. If not then heat and additional 15 seconds.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, place coated pretzels on the prepared cookies sheet.
Let the caramel harden for a few minutes or refrigerate. NOTE: if the caramel sticks to the paper, gently lift the pretzel, using your fingers mold the caramel to the pretzel. Set aside for chocolate dipping. LOOK BELOW FOR DETAILED PHOTOS↓
Easter Dessert Table, Kids Table or an Easter Basket these delicious sweet and salty decorated pretzels fit any of these options.
All the Layers!
Crunchy salted center, chewy caramel coating all incased in a creamy chocolate shell. Now…that’s the perfect Easter Treat!
Pour a can of Dulce de Leche into a microwave safe bowl, heat until softened (about 15-30 seconds) NOTE: I ORIGIALLY USED THE CARAMLE PICTURED ABOVE, THEY NO LONGER OFFER THIS CARAMEL.
TAP OFF ANY EXCESS.
PLACE ON PARCHMENT PAPER LINED COOKIE SHEET AND REFRIGERATE.
DIP CARAMEL DIPPED PRETZELS IN MELTED CHOCOLATE (Pour chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, heat on high 1 minute, stir until creamy. If the chocolate does not become creamy heat an additional 30 seconds at 60% heat.
TAP OFF ANY EXCESS.
Once the pretzels are dipped in melted chocolate, if you decide to decorate using the drizzle method of the different chocolates you’ll need to let them harden BEFORE adding the other chocolate drizzle. If you choose to add sprinkles you’ll need to do that immediately while the chocolate is still soft.
HOW TO MAKE THE EASTER BASKET CAN FILLER:
First purchase cans that have a pop top lid. I like using cans that had fruit cocktail or peaches in them. There’s no lingering smell….plus I can make cobbler with the peaches or pack up the fruit cocktail to put in the kids lunch.
Turn the over and open the BOTTOM of the can. I find it’s easier to use a hand held can opener VS an electric but it’s up to you. Empty the contents, take off the label, wash and dry.
Remember when filling the can to fill it upside down. That means place the tops of the pretzels in first. I put mine in a cellophane party bag.
To put the lid bottom back on use packing tape.
USING THE SAME PACKING TAPE, ADD THE LABEL AND YOU ARE SET!
TWO OPTIONS: I RECOMMEND PRINTING THE LABELS OUT ON CARDSTOCK PAPER.
