MELTING WAFERS VS CHOCOLATE BARS
MELTING WAFERS: If you choose to use melting wafers, I highly recommend choosing Ghirardelli. DO NOT USE candy melts of any brand, and not chocolate-flavored almond bark. I used the Ghirardelli milk chocolate melting wafers. I love how easy they are to use. The wafers melt beautifully without having to add any additional fat.
CHOCOLATE BAR: Chop 1 cup of your favorite dark chocolate bar and add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Heat for 30 seconds, stir, and continue heating until the chocolate is melted and, when stirred, is creamy.
HOW TO STORE BUTTERFINGER FUDGE
Key points about storing Butterfinger fudge
- Airtight container: Always use an airtight container to prevent the fudge from drying out or absorbing odors from other foods.
- Room temperature vs. refrigerator: While room temperature is fine for short-term storage, the fridge is better for longer shelf life.
- Wax paper layers: If you plan to store the fudge for a long time, place wax paper between the layers to prevent them from sticking together.
WHY IS THERE CANDY CORN IN THE FUDGE?
Candy corn has a sweet, buttery, vanilla flavor. These flavors, combined with peanut butter, offer the perfect alternative to an actual Butterfinger Candy Bar.
- Sweet: The high sugar content from the marshmallow and corn syrup gives candy corn its initial sweet taste.
- Buttery: The melting process releases volatile compounds that enhance the buttery notes.
- Vanilla: The vanilla adds depth and complexity to the flavor.
