These Narwhal Decorated Pretzels are super easy to make with swirls of caramel, covered in vanilla flavored candy—you can't beat the sweet and salty combo.
Ingredients
- 15 pretzel rods
- 1 (10 ounce) bag white vanilla melting wafers (Ghirardelli)
- 60 Kraft caramels
- Wilton white pearl dust
Instructions
- Pour rice into a large tub or container—you want to make sure the container is deep enough so that when the rice is poured in the weight of the rice will hold the pretzel up. PLACE CONTAINER WITH RICE IN THE REFRIGERATOR.
- Pour wafers into a medium size microwave safe bowl.
- Heat 1 minute, stir until creamy. If the candy is not completely melted, continue microwaving in 30 second increments at 60% power.
- OR USE A MELTING POT—set aside
- Place 4 caramels (with wrapping off) in a small microwave safe bowl.
- Heat 10 to 15 seconds (depending on your microwave)—caramels should me soft but not melted ONLY HEAT FOUR (enough for one pretzel) AT A TIME.
- Mold together and form a 12-inch long rope.
- Staring at the top of the pretzel rod; wind the caramel around.
- Spoon melted vanilla candy over the pretzel, making sure to fill in between the caramel and pretzel; tap off the excess.
- Place in the tub of rice to harden.
- Repeat with remaining pretzels.
- Once all the pretzels are hardened (about 10 to 15 minutes).
- Pour a small amount of the pearl dust into a small dish, use a clean paint brush and brush the dust onto the hardened pretzel.
- Store at room temperature in an airtight container up to 2 weeks.
