How to Make Sticky Plum Sauce Chicken Wings
- THE CHICKEN WINGS: My favorite part of a chicken wing is the little drum stick, others prefer the flat. For that reason I purchase a big bag of chicken party wings with the flats and drumsticks already separated from the tip and each other.
- THE SAUCE: Transforming a can of plums into a saucy, sticky, delicious sauce is easy with only a few ingredients.
- 16 ounce can whole plums (can’t find whole plums in a can? Don’t worry I’ve got you covered! Scroll down to see how.)
- chicken stock
- soy sauce
- garlic
- molasses (helps create that wonderful sticky texture)
- white vinegar
- salt and pepper
How to Always Have Sticky Plum Sauce At Your Fingertips
HOW TO FREEZE STICKY PLUM SAUCE: I like freezing my sauces in a freezer safe zip top bag. Pour cooled sauce in a freezer safe zip top bag, lay the bag on a flat surface in the freezer and let them freeze completely. IF YOU’RE SHORT ON SPACE, FOLLOW THIS IDEA. →After the sauce has frozen, store this sauce and all your other sauces like books lined up on a shelf. This helps a lot with space. The sauce will stay fresh up to 6 months. WHEN READY TO USE: Take the sauce out of the freezer the night before, place in the refrigerator to thaw. When ready to use, heat in a small saucepan.
What Can I Use If I Can’t Find Plums In A Can?
DRIED PLUMS: Here’s how to replace the jar of plums with dried plums. Still add all the other ingredients, chicken stock, soy sauce, garlic, molasses, and white vinegar but instead of the jar of plums add 1 (8 ounce bag) of dried plums, chopped, and 1½ cups of water. Cook as directed. It’s not necessary to add the slurry (water and cornstarch) The dried plums will nicely thicken up the sauce.
